The MAC's seminar series follows a consistent annual rhythm, giving students and visiting practitioners reliable opportunities to train with high-level instructors.
January
Kagami Biraki
The traditional New Year's opening practice. Kagami Biraki — "opening the mirror" — marks the start of the training year and is observed at dojos throughout the aikido world. A meaningful way to begin the year on the mat.
April
O-Sensei Memorial
Held each spring to honor Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, who passed away in April 1969. Features a visiting shihan and draws practitioners from across the Chicago area and beyond.
Autumn
Autumn Seminar
A fall seminar featuring a visiting instructor, open to all levels. A great opportunity to expand your practice with a fresh perspective before the end of the year.

Joining Us from Another Dojo?
Guest practitioners are always welcome at the MAC's seminars and regular classes. We're a friendly dojo with a long tradition of hosting visitors from other schools, styles, and affiliations.
For seminars, register using the link on the event listing — no need to contact us in advance.
For regular class visits, just show up and introduce yourself to an instructor when you arrive. There is a $20 mat fee for visiting practitioners.
