Welcome to the MAC, a Martial Arts dojo. We are a not-for-profit Aikido dojo (school) in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood. Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art which focuses on blending with an attack in order to neutralize it. Instead of strength, strikes, and force, Aikido emphasizes movement, technique, and balance. Our active membership includes women and men from all walks of life, ages 6 to over 70. As a new member, you will pair with many experienced Aikidoists, guaranteeing a self-paced, dynamic, and varied approach to learning this dynamic and varied martial art. The benefits of practicing Aikido go far beyond mere self-defense. We invite you to come see for yourself!

  • The MAC is currently closed.

Due to the recent rise in Covid cases and the Governor’s imposition of resurgence mitigations we are temporarily closing the dojo for classes. The state order specifically forbids indoor group classes for health and fitness centers. Unfortunately, this also includes our recently scheduled Thanksgiving morning class.

However, our scheduled 45th Anniversary Online Seminar will still take place on December 5th at 1pm. Please join us to virtually celebrate our history!

We wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday and we hope to see you on the mat again soon!
